What is Nature's Nectar?
Nature's Nectar is a 100% all natural and ready-to-use Hummingbird nectar. It does not require dilution or addition of sugar or cooking or mixing. It is simply the easiest way to feed Hummingbirds. The nectar featured in all Nature's Nectar products is brewed and bottled by hand in strict accordance with the patent-pending formula developed by Scenic Valley Products. After two years of research including consultation with one of the countries leading food engineers and countless hours at Hummingbird sanctuaries in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Costa Rica, Scenic Valley Products finally arrived at the magical formula now known as Nature's Nectar.
What ingredients are used in Nature's Nectar?
- Water - Nature's Nectar is brewed with 100% pure filtered water.
- Sugar - Our formula contains just the right amount of sugar to attract Hummingbirds and keep them healthy and full of energy. Nature's Nectar contains only natural sweeteners and no preservatives. Nature's Nectar uses the pure sucrose found in cane sugar as the primary sugar. Hummingbirds have been shown to prefer the taste of cane source sucrose to simpler sugars such as fructose and dextrose. However, a small amount of dextrose is added in order to maintain a mild texture for easy consumption and digestion for Hummingbirds. Our tests have repeatedly shown that Hummingbirds prefer Nature's Nectar to traditional homemade nectars and other commercially available nectars.
- Tartaric Acid - Nature's Nectar also contains a small amount of an all-natural ingredient called tartaric acid. Tartaric acid is made directly from grapes. It is used primarily to adjust the pH of the nectar during the brewing process to ensure a mild nectar that is easy to drink and digest for Hummingbirds.
- Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color (only in our red nectar)- With less than one part per million, a trace amount of all natural berry extract is added only to our red nectar products for that characteristic red appearance that many associate with hummingbird nectar.
How can you bottle nectar with no preservatives?
Our unique bottling process is the reason that Nature's Nectar contains no preservatives. Being bottled at extremely high temperatures in glass bottles essentially pasteurizes our nectar, which prevents spoilage and gives the product an indefinite shelf life.
Will the nectar spoil?
Nature's Nectar will remain fresh inside its bottle until the cap is removed. Once opened any unused portion should be refrigerated to prevent spoilage. Although no nectar is completely immune to developing mold when exposed to oxygen, the glass bottle and extremely high bottling temperatures used in the production of Nature's Nectar will deter bacteria and mold formation therefore prolonging the functional life of your nectar.
Why is the feeder called Smart Feeder?
The Smart Feeder is easy to use, easy to assemble, and easy to clean and reuse. The feeder base snaps apart for easy cleaning by pressing down on the cylinder in the center. The feeder is top rack dishwasher safe and should be cleaned when replacing the nectar bottle or refilling the feeder.
What about other nectar mixes or concentrates?
Nature's Nectar is the only 100% all natural and ready-to-use Hummingbird nectar available today. We, at Scenic Valley Products, have taken every measure to ensure that our nectar is completely safe, natural and enticing for Hummingbird consumption. Mixes and concentrates still require measuring, mixing, cooking, and cleaning. Many of these products also contain dyes and strong preservatives that could be harmful to Hummingbirds considering their rate of consumption.
